A Personal Note

Before working in real estate, I spent time on Big Twin Lake in my earlier years while visiting close friends whose family owned a summer cottage there. We spent time on the water and even explored parts of the lake while scuba diving — and what stood out then, and still stands out today, was the lake’s clarity, cleanliness, and healthy fish population.

Just as memorable was the atmosphere around the lake. Many owners were long-time families who knew one another, cared for the lake, and treated it with respect. While more year-round homes exist today, Big Twin Lake has retained much of that same quiet, considerate character.

Properties here tend to be held long-term and are often passed down within families, which helps explain why opportunities are limited when homes do come to market. For buyers seeking a peaceful, unpretentious lakefront setting — and who are comfortable with a longer drive to Traverse City — Big Twin Lake continues to represent strong value for the experience it offers.
